Psychology Today calls Mindfulness or Mindfulness a state of active and open attention in the present. It focuses on living in the moment, rather than dwelling on the past or anticipating the future. Given this definition, does mindfulness practice fit within the concept of career advancement? Is it possible given the forward-looking nature of the term “advance”?
We need to have a goal to meet that guides the course of our actions. In positive psychology, this is known as “life purpose,” a meaningful individual project that involves commitment.
However, when mindfulness is combined with the concept of purpose, you create a very compelling proposition for companies and leaders.
Living Your Purpose: Implement your plan, relating the results of your self-assessment and development to your daily activities. Start the day with your goals and others you know in mind.
How does this look in real life? Conscious, purpose-driven leadership will adjust your ability to recognize growth opportunities for yourself and others.
Understand how to set goals and achieve them effectively; adapt to challenges along the way, especially those that involve the human element and require mindfulness; and motivate others to help you pursue and achieve your purpose while contributing to a positive culture, improved results, and achieved goals.
Mark your goals
It would be best if you analyzed what the achievements for you would make you a successful person; keep in mind that they do not necessarily have to be material things are; most of the time, we reach fulfillment on a personal level thanks to non-material things.
It is a good exercise for you to write down on a sheet of paper all those things you would like to achieve in detail.
Divide your goals
It is easier to achieve your goals if you divide them into small subgoals. It would help if you tried to be as specific as possible.
For each sub-goal you set, add a date so that you put an expiration date; it will help you commit to your struggle to achieve it.
It is possible that, when dividing, you will have many goals to achieve and that you will be overwhelmed by the number of tasks to be done; what you should do in these cases is to stay with only one or two of the objectives that you have defined in the previous step.
Take into account your limitations.
No matter how optimistic we are and no matter how hard we put into something, we must be aware that sometimes there are limitations and certain things that we will not be able to address. Keep it real!
We must, therefore, be very clear about the things that we can and cannot tackle. In case of not being able to do something that can prevent us from reaching our goals, we must try to see if it is possible to find a solution to the problem, for example, with others’ help.
Never give up
On the way to overcoming the established goals, it is sure that you will find many obstacles. Instead of giving up, you should try to find solutions. This attitude is what differentiates successful people from those who are not. Never give up!
